I'M NOT GONNA LIE

Tuesday was another AMAZING night for 70x7... and we had a special guest in the van.  Pastor Kevin Butcher from Hope Community Church.  It's the first time we've had a Pastor along for the ride.  What a blessing and a treat to share this ministry with him.  After brief introductions and prayer, we set off to see what God had in mind for this particular Tues night.  What a great and glorious God we serve  that never lets us down.

We met many new girls this week.  It's so heartbreaking to see them...... lost on the street..... searching for Hope... and many not knowing He has a name!

"Tina" said her son was murdered last month and wanted prayer for a mother's grief. Both Tina and her friend wanted prayer to get off the streets.  She tried to hid her drug paraphernalia when I went to hug her goodbye and she said, "I"m not going to lie, I carry my stuff with me" and I just hugged her.  I told her we were not there in judgement of her, but that we knew God has a plan for her life and it's not the street.  I told her she was precious to Him and I prayed that she would know that in her heart.

Every woman we met tonight asked for prayer to get off the street.  Every woman we met tonight hugged us in desparation and thanked Donna for her card - that supplied her phone number for prayer, information to get an ID, rehab, help to start a new life.  Cindy would call out to each girl as they left "I LOVE YOU!" with the childlike innocence that she has and Every Woman turned back instinctively and responded "I LOVE YOU TOO!" (the first time meeting us) and my heart broke again.  I want to be loved.  They want to be loved.  I have made bad choices and by the Grace of an almighty Savior have not ended up on the streets.  I know Hope has a name - JESUS CHRIST!  My heart just breaks for these women that don't know Hope.  That cling to us in the van and want relief from their agony.  My heart just breaks and I pray and I pray that they will make the choice to come to the cross.  Just as they are.  Broken and bleeding (with needles and crack pipes in their pockets) needing redemption.  Why would we have a Savior if we didn't need to be saved?

Streams of tears flow from my eyes because my people are destroyed. My eyes will flow unceasingly, without relief, until the LORD looks down from heaven and sees. What I see brings grief to my soul because of all the women of my city.

Lamentations 3:48-51

We felt a call back to an old neighborhood and found a house full (20+) people - some doing drugs and all waiting hopelessly for the head of their household (our friend) Emma to return from the hospital.  She has been in a terrible car accident (she's in intensive care and in a coma) and may not make it.  This is a home that has seen 2 murders (on the same couch in the same living room where we stood) - one her husband (in front of all the kids) and one another prostitute who came there to die after being beat up real bad.  Emma is an old prostitute that gave up the streets for her kids and her kids kids.  We see many FULL homes like this in the hood.  As soon as they saw us they screamed and ran to us.  Pastor Butcher was surprised at the love and trust they showed us and how we wrangled all these people in a prayer circle in the living room.  Donna represents Jesus to these people.  They see her van and they come running.  What a joy and a blessing to be a part of this ministry.

There is so much evil out there.  7 prostitutes were murdered recently in our old Brightmoor neighborhood.  SEVEN!!  So many lost souls.  In the midst of many sex clubs and prostitutes are many churches.  Why won't they hear?  Why are they blind?  How can we get the good news of Jesus Christ across to these people?

I'm not gonna lie to you people.  I'm worried.  I'm worried that we don't share our faith enough.  I'm worried that we don't share the Good News of Jesus Christ with enough people.  Fear? Pride?  That people will think we're freaks?  Judge us?  Not like us anymore?  What is it?  The world is going to hell in a handbasket (as my dad used to say) and we sit in our comfortable chairs knowing we have a ticket into heaven and we're good with that.  Please pray about how God can use you today.  I know, the streets aren't for everyone.  You may have opportunities in your own neighborhoods, in your own families, or your work place.... won't you step out in faith and share Christ with someone that needs Him desparately?

Please continue to pray for our team and for the people that God would have us reach out to on the streets.  Your continued contributions - both financially and your donations of toilettries are really appreciated!  If you would like to donate gift cards (for food) to Mejier or Kroger that would be great.  If you would like to donate money, please write your check to Abide Ministries and put 70x7 in the memo.  You will get a tax write off for your money donations.  You can drop donations off at my store Lorla's (see http://lorlas.com/page13.html) or mail it to Lauren Beras, 27450 Goldengate Dr. W., Lathrup Village, MI  48076.

THANK YOU so much for your support and your prayers.
Thank you for allowing God to reach into your hearts and challenge you to step out of your comfort zone.

I'm also feeling a need to give my cell number out 248-563-0886.  If you need prayer, if you need encouragement from a fellow believer... call me.  Let's agree today to do more to further the Kingdom!

Have an amazing week in Him!
With much love,
Lauren
