Inner Sanctuary

I am worn out calling for help; my throat is parched. My eyes fail, looking for my God.
Psalm 69:3

As we proceeded down the street we see “R” digging through a pile of garbage.  To our eyes there didn’t seem to be anything that would be of value or use, but to “R” she must have seen something of worth.  When we stopped and introduced ourselves there seemed to be some hesitation (which is not uncommon), however, after a few seconds she approached us with a smile that radiated into our hearts.  “R” was very open in sharing that she so desperately wanted to be free of drugs she had turned herself into police where she was sentenced to 90 days in jail.  What an act of courage.  Why was she out on the street rumbling through garbage?  We have no idea, however, when we extended our hands in prayer for “R” and all of the beautiful souls we meet on the street, one thing that is said “dear Lord only you know their situation and circumstances”, and it’s true, only He knows.  “R” was only one of several women we saw last week, there was “A” who was introduced to us by “M” was a frail woman who seemed frightened.  “M” said “A” was new.  After we prayed with “M”, “A” approached the van, and even though she was trembling, still extended her hands to pray with us.  One of the things I’ve learned through this ministry is to see God in every human being, no matter how clever the disguise.  And most of all I learned that life is about love, compassion and service.  Nothing else is real, nothing else matters, and I do think that “A” needed to know someone loves
her.

Donna frequently mentions that this ministry is equally about what transpires IN the van as does OUT of the van.  After we returned to our meeting point, following our prayer of thanks for a safe and meaningful outreach, the team reflected on the evenings miracles. It just amazes me that God has brought such wonderful women into my life….different backgrounds, but such similar beliefs.  We all took notice of the changes that are happening within us.  Our discoveries/changes may be thunderous or sometimes so minute, and it may take
us awhile (especially me) to notice them, however, what we can count on is that these inner shifts are always taking place.  God never deserts His own creativity, and, as an extension of Him, neither do we. We all agreed that as instruments of the Divine we know personally we have come to realize that what separates us from those we see on the streets are not differences in who we are, but a wrong choice here and a missed opportunity there.

I know for myself each week on my return ride home I reflect “There but for the grace of God go I”.

Thank you all for your love and support of 70x7.

Be Blessed,
Diane

Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. Hebrews 6:16-20

P.S. Summer seems to be here and many of us will be traveling on vacations.  We need your help; we are in need of travel-sized hygiene items.  If you could please collect the hotel items for us to hand out to our clients we would be very grateful.  Thank you and may the Lord bless you with a safe and happy summer.
In Him,
Donna
