Taste and See

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity. I Tim. 4:12

It’s so refreshing to see and hear 20 years old talk about their faith in Christ.  Tonight Cindy and I were blessed to have 2 young ladies ride with us, Allison and Adrienne, it almost made us feel young again.  Allison has ridden with us a few times so tonight she worked the window, talking and praying with everyone we met.  It was so cute when we saw “C” she asked Alli if she was new and then thanked her and told her she did a good job praying.  Now that’s one of the best compliments a person can receive.  I know “C” was sincere because she’s always been very specific with her prayer requests and would interject anything she felt we should have prayed about.  Father, thank you for allowing us to pray with your lost and broken daughter, may her heart be open to the cleansing power of your spirit.  May she begin to see how valuable she is and may you heal her in body, mind, and soul.

The streets were rather quite this evening so we did a few home visits.  It was fun to visit with some of the children we haven’t seen in a while.  It was “D’s” birthday today and she turned 8 years old.  We first met her when she was 3 years old sitting in her front yard with her little sister both playing with their dolls, dressed in filthy clothes, with big blue eyes and dirty little faces.  She has always called us the “Church ladies” or the “Lunch ladies”.  She would run to us and ask us to pick her up and give her a big hug.  Those encounters were always bitter-sweet.  Her parents would stand in the background not wanting to join us in prayer but allowing us to pray with little “D” and her sister.  This family does not go to church and when we have offered to give them a Bible they would say, “No, thanks”.  It took 2 more years before the parents would join us in prayer.  We rejoiced all evening when that happened.  Then things changed again and the parents would leave the room when we prayed.  We’ve received so many mixed messages from this family.  They welcome us when we come by and they thank us for giving the girls a lunch bag.  They even invite us to stop by again.  Please join us in praying that this family will begin to see that the Lord is good and desires a relationship with them.

Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.
Psalm 34:8

Love,
Donna
