Quiet Streets

The streets were very quiet tonight for us white van ladies.  The few men and women that we did stop for early on, seemed to be side tracked.  They were watching all around them, and in a hurry for us to move on, except for two that especially grabbed my heart.  "A" was sitting on the curb, rubbing his head with his hands, when we asked, "Would you like a sandwich?"  He looked up, smiled and said, "Are you Christians?" He seemed so glad when we said yes.   He was so hungry and so anxious to pray with us.  He had a sweet spirit about him and yet so sad about his condition.

Donna and Cindy had seen "K" last week and she seemed happy to see us again, bringing the same request, "Please pray that I would have the strength to break this addiction", even as a man was pulling up in a car for her,  she still said, " I have time to pray."

This was my third time riding with Donna and Cindy and each time I have gone home thinking I so desperately want to tell them that Jesus has so much more for their lives than this!  He came that you might have life, and have it to the full. This is the gift that Jesus wants to give you.  But for now I will take comfort in knowing that we may be the only people that pray for them and prayer moves mountains.

Sincerely, Karen Smith
