Immanuel - God With Us
“Elvis is in the building (van).” God has been so good in bringing us new visitors to ride in the van and tonight was no exception. We had the pleasure of having Elvis ride with us this evening. Only this Elvis is originally from Brazil and attends Northridge Church. The Lord had something special planned for him this evening and the rest of us in the van were going to be blessed by his presence.
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means, "God with us." Matt. 1:23
It’s never too early to celebrate the Christmas season and tonight we all felt the gift of “God with us”. The first person we saw was Donald standing by his broken bike in the middle of the street. ... (more)

How Many Times Should We Forgive Them?
Then Peter came and said to Him, "Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?" Jesus said to him, "I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven. Matt. 18:21-22
This verse is the focus of our ministry yet sometimes I forget that to forgive is who Jesus Christ is. Scripture can speak so loud and convict you to the very core of your being. Tonight it was that way for me. We so often see the same women over and over again. Women that continually abuse their bodies with alcohol and drugs, then sell their bodies to be abused so they can buy more drugs and start the cycle all over again. Some days you want to scream at them to stop! Then it hits you that maybe you are looking in a mirror. You may not be doing drugs or ... (more)

Coming Clean - Part 1
Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me.
Psalm 51:1-3 (New International Version)
For me, the week started last Wed when I came clean with God. Just one of those moments, you know.... when I realized I had been shutting God out of important things and avoiding growth, avoiding Him in ways that suddenly became apparent to me. ... (more)

Coming Clean - Part 2
Dear Friends: It's so amazing to see the impact that the 70x7 outreach has on visitors in the van. This message is from Greer who accompanied us this week. Read on:
Last night was a moment of clarity. Clarity seems to be hard to come by these days. There is so much information and all too much noise. But last night proved to be a moment when God cuts through the fog of our own blindness. God shone his light clear and true and shocked and amazed me to the marrow of my bones.
I drove back to Detroit yesterday on a beautiful fall day. The colors were the beginning hint of something dazzling to come. Despite the evidence of seasons that God gives us in our lives and in nature, I was angry and afraid. ... (more)

Quiet Streets
The streets were very quiet tonight for us white van ladies. The few men and women that we did stop for early on, seemed to be side tracked. They were watching all around them, and in a hurry for us to move on, except for two that especially grabbed my heart. "A" was sitting on the curb, rubbing his head with his hands, when we asked, "Would you like a sandwich?" He looked up, smiled and said, "Are you Christians?" He seemed so glad when we said yes. He was so hungry and so anxious to pray with us. He had a sweet spirit about him and yet so sad about his condition.
Donna and Cindy had seen "K" last week and she seemed happy to see us again, bringing the same request, "Please pray that I would have the strength to break this ... (more)

Youth
Flee the evil desires of youth, and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
2 Tim. 2:22
There they are again, gathered together on the lawn, sitting in chairs, lounging against someone’s car, standing like sentinels guarding their turf. They flock to the van seeking lunch bags and hygiene items and our hearts cry out for them. What do they see when we pull up? Do they see Christ in us or just a friendly face passing out a lunch bag? I pray we will never grow weary in reaching out to this large group of youth. We also give thanks that they always welcome us. It’s humbling to know the Lord placed these young people in our path and we pray we may continue to meet with them, pray with them and to speak more boldly about the love Christ has for them. The whole team rejoices in the miracle standing before us, tall, handsome young males, pretty young ... (more)
